STEPHANIE DUTCHER, Assistant Corps Director and Administrative Liaison to the Board of Directors

STEPHANIE DUTCHER was a member of the Jersey Surf’s brass section from 2008 until aging out in 2011. Steph joined the instructional staff as a visual technician in 2012 prior to becoming a significant contributor to the organization’s administrative team. Since 2013, Stephanie has served the corps as Assistant Corps Director and over the past few seasons has added Tour Manager responsibilities to her duties as well. She serves as the administrative staff liaison to the Jersey Surf board of directors.
• Steph holds a B.M. in Music Education with a trombone concentration and minor in classical guitar performance from the University of Delaware. She is currently employed as an elementary instrumental music teacher in the Carteret, NJ school district, where she has worked since 2011.

DR. JULIE HILL, Board Member

Dr. JULIE HILL completed a B.A. in Psychology at McDaniel College and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at the University of Florida. Her research focuses on adolescents’ and emerging adults’ health behaviors as well as best practices in teaching psychology. For the past three years she lived in Dubuque, Iowa and worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She recently relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she started a new position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at La Salle University.
• Julie grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and marched color guard with the Jersey Surf from 2007 until 2009 when she aged out. She returned to Surf to volunteer as part of the administration team for the 2015 and 2017-2018 seasons and joined the Board of Directors in 2018.

TERRI IVES, Board Member

TERRI IVES has been involved in the marching arts since the age of six. Joining the Jersey Surf as a parent volunteer in support of her daughter during the 2005 season, Terri has continued to serve the corps in a variety of roles including the culinary team, merchandise crew, uniform maintenance coordinator and volunteer coordinator. Terri joined the Jersey Surf board of directors in 2018.
• Residing in Media, Pennsylvania with her husband Bill, Terri is a Senior Client Advisor in the Private Client Services division of a leading provider in the property and casualty insurance industry. In addition to her service to the Jersey Surf, she is also a Champion Volunteer for Cradles to Crayons in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish of Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley. She is proud to have been recognized as a DCI Volunteer of the Year.

BOB JACOBS, Exec. Director & Board Member

BOB JACOBS has served the Jersey Surf as its Executive Director since the organization’s incorporation in 1990. During his tenure, the corps has provided a quality music education and leadership development experience to more than 3,500 student musicians and performers from throughout the United States and from a growing number of countries around the world.
• Among a wide number of notable achievements since its founding, the Jersey Surf is the only organization in the history of Drum Corps International to be honored with the “Spirit of Disney” award for creativity and performance excellence in three consecutive seasons. The corps is a former Silver and Bronze medalist in DCI Division II (Open Class) and has also received distinction with “DCI Volunteers of the Year,” recognition as well as “Corps of the Year” and “Director of the Year” honors several times during its participation in the Open Class. The Jersey Surf was promoted to “DCI World Class” status in 2009.
• Bob resides in central New Jersey with his wife Rosanne and Sasha the Cat. He is the managing partner of a Philadelphia-area strategic marketing consultancy and has served as the Director of Marketing for Drum Corps International since 2006, where he has helped a talented team of professionals to contribute to the strategic growth of the DCI family of brands on a global scale.

KATIE LIMING, Alumni Liaison to the Board of Directors

With a professional interest in science communication, KATIE LIMING currently works as a program coordinator for a marine science organization. A recent graduate of the University of Delaware, Katie marched with the Jersey Surf as a trumpet player in 2015 and as a drum major for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Katie currently resides in Newark, Delaware and gives back to the corps as a member of the administration team and as the alumni liaison to the organization’s board of directors.

 

 

 

GEOFFREY MARTIN, Board Member

GEOFFREY MARTIN started his drum corps journey with the Jersey Surf snare line, marching from 2000 to 2001, serving as snare captain during his final year. During this period, he also participated in the Riptide Indoor Percussion Ensemble, a Surf-affiliated indoor drumline competing at that time in Winter Guard International competition.
• Geoff brings to the board an extensive background in revenue generation, having served in a media sales capacity for a wide range of print and digital media companies including Vox Media, Inc., where he is currently an Account Director covering the Media and Entertainment category.
• Geoffrey has a B.M. degree in Music Business/Management from Berklee College of Music, and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.

TELLY OUSOULJOGLOU, Board Member

TELLY OUSOULJOGLOU is a Branch Manager for Schindler Elevator, responsible for the company’s Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky offices. He was a marching member of the Jersey Surf from 2004–2006 and served on the admin team until 2012 when he relocated overseas. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
• Telly, his wife Christina, and their two daughters currently reside in West Chester, Ohio.

 

 

 

JON ROBERTS, Board Member

JONATHAN ROBERTS started his drum corps career with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps of West Chester, Pennsylvania in the late 1980s. In 1994 he joined the percussion staff of the Jersey Surf and has continued his involvement with the organization every season since; assuming various roles on the instructional staff, and as an enthusiastic supporter, fan or volunteer prior to becoming a member of the corporation’s board of directors.
• Jon studied Psychology and Business Administration at the University of Delaware and has worked in the financial industry for several years prior to a career change into his current occupation in the industrial construction industry. He currently works as a Journeyman Mason and is a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts skilled trade union of Philadelphia. Jon and his wife reside in the suburbs of Philadelphia along with their dog. He is an active member of St. John’s Church in Mayfair (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania, and is a supporter the Scouting Movement in America. He is also an active member of the Crossmen Alumni Association.

DONALD H. WHITWORTH, Board Member

DONALD H. WHITWORTH, a Smyrna, Delaware resident, has executive, managerial and supervisory experience – including both the private sector (automotive manufacturing) and the public sector (government administration); as well as, the financial services arena. He is a native of St. Louis, Missouri; and, has previously lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.
• His experience includes planning, administering and compliance to budgets, as well as preparing, reviewing and monitoring budgets and professional speaking. This experience also includes managing departments of more than 250 managers, supervisors and staff in internationally diverse manufacturing facilities in product quality, purchasing and materials management.
• Donald is very heavily involved in Delaware’s civic and non-profit organizations, at the leadership level. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Viet Nam era. He is currently the Delaware State Director for Bugles Across America.
• He is married and has four adult children, two of whom are former members of the Jersey Surf organization. Donald has been a participant, booster, parent and avid fan of competitive drum & bugle corps for many years, and he was a past member of the Westshoremen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Mr. Whitworth is a professional speaker and singer; a member of his church’s Men’s Chorus as well as performing as a trumpet/flugelhorn player in his Church Orchestra.

GARY WOLFROM, Board Member

GARY WOLFROM has been involved with the drum corps activity his entire life, and has served as an active member of the Jersey Surf board since 2012. His father was the Corps Director of Black Watch Drum & Bugle Corps of Willingboro, New Jersey from 1970 until the corps’ last show in 1984. His mother is still actively involved as the Director of the award-winning Black Watch Color Guard from Mt. Laurel, NJ. Gary began his marching career in 1974 at age 10 in the percussion section of the Black Watch and served as the Assistant Drum Major for the 1981 and 1982 seasons.
• In 1979, Black Watch Drum & Bugle Corps won the DCI Class A championship as well as numerous other regional championships. Gary taught percussion at Shawnee High School from 1990 – 1991 and at Eastern High School from 1993–1995. In addition, he has been a consultant to various high school band programs throughout southern NJ.
• Gary holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Glassboro State College (Rowan University). He works as a Purchasing Manager for a refinery company. Outside the world of drum corps, Gary and his wife Dawn manage a small horse farm in southern NJ. They enjoy contributing to community events which support a variety of youth-focused activities.
