The Jersey Surf World Class Drum Corps is pleased to announce plans for its 2018 Drum Corps International Summer Tour as it celebrates its 28th anniversary season, with another remarkable journey which will see the corps travel some 10,000 miles over the course two and a half months next summer.
Tour highlights include an expanded Spring Training session intended to help offset a later “move-in” time necessitated by many corps members and staff school calendars along the eastern seaboard. After spending an additional week refining its program in all-day rehearsal sessions, the Surf will kick-off its public performances over the July 4th holiday weekend in the Philadelphia, PA area. The Surf organization is also excited to be a part of a newly established major regional event in St. Louis, MO on July 15th along with perennial favorite DCI regional championship events in San Antonio, TX and Atlanta, GA along with the “granddaddy of ’em all,” DCI East in Allentown, PA over the ensuing three weekends.
Other tour highlights include return visits to Orlando, Florida’s Camping World Stadium, two performances in the state of Arkansas and a long-awaited return to a long-time Surf favorite performance location in Rome, NY. The corps is also looking forward to visiting old friends and making new ones in several other locales, including familiar “home” territory in Salem, VA and Annapolis, MD.
Members of the general public along with alumni, family members and friends of the corps are invited to join the corps for its annual “Send-Off” BBQ the afternoon following Allentown, as the corps begins it’s “final push” to the 2018 World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.
