To kick off a year-long celebration of the organization’s 30th Anniversary, the Jersey Surf World Class Drum Corps is pleased to announce the selection of ETHAN SEARS to lead the corps as head Drum Major for the 2020 season.

A lifelong resident of Warrenton Virginia, Ethan was introduced to band as a trombone player at Warrenton Middle School, eventually learning to play baritone so he could participate in the Fauquier High School marching band. He is currently 18 years old and a freshman attending Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia where he is majoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE).

Ethan has been a valued member of the Jersey Surf for the past three seasons as a performer in the baritone section. The 2020 season will mark his fourth year at Surf, and first year as drum major.

“Throughout the past three decades, we’ve been very fortunate to have enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to the development of the leadership skills of many outstanding young adults,” said Bob Jacobs, Executive Director of The Jersey Surf. “There is no doubt that Ethan will help to continue the legacy of remarkable student leadership within our ranks as he contributes his talents to a team of thoughtful, passionate and dedicated Jersey Surf members. Under his leadership, we’ll continue to work together to achieve great things both on and off the field.”
