Three Jersey Surf veteran members received scholarships to help fund their 2019 tour fees.

East Windsor, NJ resident and fourth year Jersey Surf brass section member JUSTIN BOGEN has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the JACOBS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP, presented to a veteran member of the Jersey Surf who has contributed to the success of the organization as a leader within its ranks. The gift was established in the fall of 2018 by family members and friends to honor the memory of the late Mrs. Marianne Jacobs, the mother of corps Executive Director Bob Jacobs and his brothers and sister.

LILIAN ALBA RODRIGUEZ, a fourth year color guard member from Kennett Square, received the 2019 DORIS BUTLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  The scholarship was established by the family members of Mrs. Doris Butler, a lifelong drum corps participant, instructor, and fan.  One of Mrs. Butler’s daughters, Terri Ives, is a current member of the Jersey Surf Board of Directors and has served the organization as a volunteer for over a decade.

The AUDUBON BON-BONS DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS ALUMNI selected CLAIRE AUTH of Annapolis, MD to receive their 2019 gift.  The legendary Bon-Bons competed from 1938 until 1977 as an all-girl drum and bugle corps. The Bon-Bons alumni continue to stay involved in the drum corps activity, sponsoring an annual gift for a female participating in drum corps among many other social and performance activities. Auth is a second year Jersey Surf brass section member.
