Jamieson, Bonar named 2020 DCI Scholarship Recipients

Jersey Surf members Lauren Jamieson and Shelby Bonar have been selected as recipients of two different scholarships offered by organizations in cooperation with Drum Corps International.

The IN STEP: Women of DCI program began in January of 2018 to support the participation of women in all facets of DCI and marching music performing arts — from corps members to instructional and admin staff to organizational leadership. The IN STEP Scholarship is awarded to a current DCI participating female performer, intern or corps staff member who aspires to continue working within the drum corps activity into the future.

Lauren Jamieson, the 2020 recipient of the IN STEP: Women of DCI Scholarship is a member of the Jersey Surf’s Brass Section. Lauren attends the University of Virginia and is a graduate of Cover Hill, High School.

The Friends of DCI program has been in existence for more than 30 years as a group of some of the drum corps activity’s most loyal and devoted fans. Since 2007, generous contributions from its members have provided for the establishment of the Friends of DCI Scholarship Program.

These scholarships assist with educational funding to help corps members in their return to the classroom after participating in the DCI Tour.  Shelby Bonar, a Field Conductor with the Jersey Surf is one of two recipients of the prestigious award this year. Shelby attends Liberty University.

Congratulations to Lauren and Shelby and thank you to Drum Corps International and its supporters for your generous recognition of these two outstanding young women
