Jersey Surf Mourns the Loss of Board Member Gary Wolfrom

With profound sadness, the Jersey Surf organization joins with our friends from the Black Watch Independent Color Guard in announcing the passing of Surf Board Member, volunteer, supporter and our friend, Gary Wolfrom.

Born in Palmyra, New Jersey and raised in nearby Mount Laurel, Gary was the son of the late John and Claudette Wolfrom – the longtime directors of the Black Watch Drum and Bugle Corps and its namesake color guard.

Gary was a 1982 graduate of Lenape High School and a 1987 graduate of Glassboro State College with a degree in Business Administration. For 30 years he was a purchasing agent and buyer for various companies throughout the region.

Gary was an avid supporter and lover of the marching arts. He marched in his parents’ drum corps from 1975-1982, was a member of the winter guard’s equipment crew, and taught marching band from 1990-1996. He was also active with the Black Watch Independent Color Guard where he served as an adviser and had been a member of the Jersey Surf board of directors since 2012.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents John and Claudette & sisters Linda Sleeth and Cynthia Wolfrom. He is survived by his adoring wife and partner of 40 years, Dawn Drummond Wolfrom, brother John (Susan) and sister Joyce Roos (Marcel), brothers-in-law David Sleeth, Blair Drummond (Kathy) & Brad Drummond and sisters-in-law Vicki Mell (Terry), Betty Stow, & Janette Wysocki (Mike), and an incredible group of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family & wonderful and dedicated friends.

Gary was a fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams and especially the Eagles. With his wife Dawn and his family and friends, he also loved spending time with their pets and on their horse farm, attending NASCAR events & ski trips, and especially enjoyed a nice cold glass of Yuengling.
