Music, community, and resilience come together as Jersey Surf provides instruments and logistics support for a program honoring survivors while helping fuel breakthroughs in science, policy, and care.
Jersey Surf, Inc., through its Mobile Music Lab community outreach programs, is proud to support the American Heart Association’s “Survivor Drum” initiative, a meaningful element of Heart Walk events in communities nationwide.
WATCH how the Survivor Drum program comes to life and brings community, celebration and music to Heart Walk events across the country:
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier fundraising event focused on saving lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 4 causes of death — heart disease and stroke. The Survivor Drum celebrates heart disease and stroke survivors, recognizing their strength and their vital presence within Heart Walk communities.
Through this engagement, Jersey Surf’s Mobile Music Lab is supporting the Survivor Drum initiative through instrument sourcing, consulting, and national logistics coordination for 180 Heart Walks nationwide, helping ensure that communities across the country can incorporate music into moments of recognition, celebration, and connection. This engagement reflects the expanding role of Jersey Surf’s Mobile Music Lab as a community-centered platform through which Jersey Surf, Inc. delivers music-based programs aligned with wellness, service, and human connection.
Music plays a powerful role in bringing people together, especially during events that honor personal journeys and collective hope. The Survivor Drum provides a visible and participatory way for survivors to be acknowledged, while also creating a shared experience that energizes Heart Walk participants and volunteers alike.
“This opportunity reflects the power of music to unite communities and lift up the stories of those who have overcome life-changing challenges,” said Bob Jacobs, Executive Director of Jersey Surf, Inc. “We are honored to help support an event that recognizes survivors and brings people together in moments that are both meaningful and uplifting.”
By bringing the Survivor Drum to life at Heart Walk, Jersey Surf continues to demonstrate how music can serve as a tool for engagement, encouragement, and shared experience in communities nationwide.
