Mobile Music Lab brings rhythm, wellness & “Healthy Choices” to the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival

As thousands of music lovers filled Rodney Square for the 2025 Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, the Jersey Surf Mobile Music Lab brought its signature blend of rhythm, creativity, and community engagement to the celebration, offering festivalgoers of all ages a chance to play, connect, and learn through the power of music and wellness.

A Hands-On Musical Experience for Everyone

Across four days of live jazz, soul, and R&B performances, some of the more than 10,000 festival guests stopped by the Mobile Music Lab tentto take part in interactive drum circles and introductory instrument experiences. Visitors could explore percussion instruments from around the world, join spontaneous rhythm jams led by Mobile Music Lab facilitators, and experience first-hand the joy of collective music-making.

From toddlers discovering their first drumbeat to adults reconnecting with their musical side, the atmosphere was electric; proof that rhythm truly is a universal language.

Chef Timothy Witcher Shares "Healthy Choices" 

Adding a delicious new dimension to the weekend, Chef Educator Timothy Witcher returned to the Mobile Music Lab stage to lead live cooking demonstrations as part of the organization’s “Healthy Choices” initiative. Chef Witcher showcased nutritious, affordable, and accessible menu ideas designed for busy families, proving that eating well doesn’t have to break the bank or sacrifice flavor.

Festival attendees sampled recipes, asked questions, and learned practical tips to bring healthier habits into their own kitchens. The collaboration between music and nutrition – central to the Mobile Music Lab mission – sparked meaningful conversations about wellness, creativity, and community.

The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival remains one of the East Coast’s most beloved free music events, and this year’s inclusion of the Mobile Music Lab underscored a shared belief: that music and wellness go hand in hand.
